Garlic Scapes

About Me: Garlic scapes are the flower stalks we snap off garlic plants in the spring. Not only will you get to enjoy garlic-flavored scapes while you wait for the bulbs to grow, you’ll also get bigger bulbs of garlic later in the season as a result of our removing the flower stalks. Snapping off the flower redirects the plant’s energy down toward the root, increasing the bulb size by 30%! Use garlic scapes in any way you would normally use garlic. They are great in any dish, used in pesto, or other sauces, even sautéed and put on top of pizza.

To Store: Garlic scapes can be put in a mesh bag, or paper towel, and then placed inside a bag, or container inside your fridge crisper. They will keep for at least three weeks. Pickled garlic scapes are also a great addition to many dishes.
